When you build a website, it can be as complicated or simple as you want it to be.  If you are building a content website, specifically a website that has news or opinions, you can probably build your website with just a main page.

Build a website with a template for an easy, effortless website.  Of course, that depends on what kind of template you choose.

There are enough options on the Settings page to make your website different, but the Settings page is easy enough to use (just clicking) to get a custom look without the hard work.
